ARRA in collaboration with UNHCR, WFP and other concerned humanitarian agencies will continue to implement the following activities during the plan year 2010:-

  • protecting and assisting all refugees in Ethiopia in the existing camps and in Addis Ababa
  • establishing additional camps in northern for new arrivals from Eritrea and south eastern parts of the country to house the new arrivals from Somalia
  • the sites in Berahle and Assaita will be further strengthened to accommodate ethnic Afar Eritreans in Afar region
  • upgrading various refugee services at Assaita
  • reducing the global acute malnutrition rate from 12.2% to less than 8%
  • increasing measles vaccination rate from 87% to 90% or higher among refugee population
  • decreasing infant mortality rate
  • increasing the water supply in camps from 11-18 liters to 20 liters per person per day
  • raising the school attendance rate for girls from 30% to 50% of all pupils
  • ensuring that refugees with specific needs and the general refugee population receive their non-food requirements
  • issuing refugee women of reproductive age a standard sanitary package
