Durable Solutions
In 2009,a total of 960 Sudanese refugees have returned to their areas of origin from Pugnido and Sherkole refugee camps in the west to South Sudan in safety and dignity bringing the total number of repatriates to over 36,000 during the past three years.
Endeavors by the government of Ethiopia, UNHCR and IOM to find durable solutions to refuge problems through resettlement have continued in 2009. As a result, a total of 2,382 refugees from Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan, and the Great Lakes Region have been resettled in the USA, Canada, Australia, Sweden, England and Norway.
